The Governor and Chief Minister were addressing the University Council meeting of the University of Kashmir here.

Vohra, who is also the Chancellor of the University, said that focus of introducing new academic courses should relate directly to the existing and emerging job market.

He said that there was a need for dynamic monitoring and evaluation of the content of the courses offered vis-a-vis the job opportunities available.

Vohra observed that the University would need to ensure high standards of teaching and research and continuously improve and upgrade them to meet the present and emerging global requirements.

Chief Minister, who is also the Pro-Chancellor of the University, said there was need for introducing such courses, which have high market demand, particularly under self-financing schemes, to make these viable and sustainable.
