J&K govt for ensuring 'no repetition' of attacks in jails

The Jammu and Kashmir government today reviewed the security apparatus in Kot Balwal jail, where a Pakistani prisoner was attacked, and directed the prison authorities to ensure that such incidents do not occur in future.

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday reviewed the security apparatus in Kot Balwal jail, where a Pakistani prisoner was attacked, and directed the prison authorities to ensure that such incidents do not occur in future.

Principal secretary, Home Department, Suresh Kumar, who reviewed the security apparatus of the jail along with director general of prisons, K Rajindra, asked the officers to ensure that such type of incidents don't occur in the future.

Kumar took stock of situation and reviewed the security arrangements of the Central Jail in connection with the Friday's incident of attack on a jail inmate.

Sanaullah Haq, a Pakistani prisoner was critically injured after being attacked by an Indian prisoner Vinod Kumar in Kot Bhalwal jail on Friday and was airlifted to PGI Chandigarh for treatment.

Jail superintendent Rajni Sehgal was suspended and a case registered against the attacker, who was remanded to police custody for seven days on Saturday.
