The committee comprising Law Minister AM Sagar, Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla and Agriculture Minister GH Mir will look into the strengthening the Act relating to land use so that unplanned constructions on agriculture land is restricted, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said in Srinagar on Saturday.
Chairing seperate meetings of district development boards of Baramulla, Bandipora and Ganderbal districts here, Omar said the step has been taken as members of the Boards have expressed concern regarding conversion of agriculture land into commercial and residential purposes.
Omar directed Forest Minister Mian Altaf Ahmad to seek the expert opinion about the reported ill effects of popular eucalyptus trees on ground water table and frame a comprehensive report so that the issue is tackled accordingly.
