J&K grenade attack: Rs 1 lakh ex-gratia announced

Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad announced the ex-gratia and Rs 5,000 to all those injured in the attack.

Jammu and Kashmir government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs one lakh to next of the kin of those killed in the grenade attack on the entourage of National Conference legislator Sakina Itoo in Anantnag district on Saturday.

Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad announced the ex-gratia and Rs 5,000 to all those injured in the attack after visiting Soura medical institute in Srinagar where 13 seriously injured people were admitted. He enquired about the health of the wounded.

Accompanied by the Director General of Police Gopal Sharma and other senior civil officers, Azad also visited Sakina Itoo, who escaped with minor injuries.

Director of the institute Dr S Jalal informed the Chief Minister that Sakina's condition was stable and out of danger and is likely to recover soon.

Azad asked the medical staff to take all necessary steps for providing Sakina best treatment. He also met individually with all 13 seriously injured persons admitted in the hospital.

Azad said he was anguished to see the condition of the injured.

Azad advised doctors to provide round the clock treatment to the injured and take all possible steps to save every injured person.
