The two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists inside were lying in wait. Both armymen were killed.

This was one of the two encounters at Boniyari in Bandipora, about 50 km north of Srinagar that security forces had with Hizb men on Tuesday.

In the other incident, two Lashkar-e-Tayyeba men, Ubaid and Mohsin, were killed on Wednesday at Laoda in Baramulla, 65 km northwest of Srinagar. Two more security men, including a naval commando, died in this battle.

The clashes come in the wake of more frequent infiltration bids — 260 this year — along the Line of Control. Also, 199 infiltrators entered the Kashmir Valley during the first six months this year, up from 117 in corresponding period last year.
