THE CURFEW, imposed in areas under six police stations of the city, was relaxed for 18 h0urs on Sunday following improvement in the situation.

Collector Sanjay Dubey said that further relaxation in the prohibitory orders might be considered after assessing the law and order situation. Dubey said the curfew was relaxed from 0600 hrs till midnight. No untoward incident has been reported from any part of the city, he claimed.

The administration had clamped curfew in the Omti, Lordganj, Hanumantal, Gohalpur, Kotwali and Belbagh areas late on Friday night after as a precautionary measure following heated arguments between groups of two communities over the tearing and removal of religious posters near Kamania Gate.

On Saturday, the administration had relaxed curfew between 6 pm to 1 am. As many as 25 persons were detained for violating curfew restrictions but were later let off.
