Emerging out of an hour-long meeting at 1 Anne Marg residence of the chief minister, Reddy said that he had detailed discussion on the Telangana issue and Centre’s move to divide Andhra Pradesh without seeking the state assembly into confidence. “We talked about amendment in Article 3 and Nitish Kumar was convinced. We are thankful to him,” he said.

The meeting of Reddy with Kumar had fuelled speculations about likely emergence of a third front. However, both the leaders ruled out any such move saying the meeting was purely on the proposed division of Andhra Pradesh.

Dubbing the central government decision as ‘unilateral’, Reddy said that this was the first time when a new state was being created without a resolution from the state assembly.
