Dr Harsh Vardhan, BJP's legislative party leader, will issue a whip to party MLAs asking them to vote against confidence motion.

"The BJP has always contested the electon for the Speakers's post. The party has decided, so I am filing the nomination," Mukhi said.

The BJP declined to allow Mukhi to become pro-tem to oversee the swearing in of new MLAs and the confidence vote of the incoming government, as the party wanted him to contest for the Speaker's post.

Earlier, Mukhi had declined to be the pro-tem speaker of Delhi assembly.

The decision in this regard was taken by Mukhi after he received a letter from Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung about his appointment.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government will seek a vote of confidence on January 2 on the floor of Delhi Assembly.
