UNION MINISTER of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal held Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) responsible for starting terrorism in Punjab.
Jaiswal expressed these views while addressing a seminar on “Terrorism — cause and remedy” organised by All-India Sant Longowal Foundation to mark the 21st death anniversary of Sant Harchand Singh Longowal here at a guesthouse in Sarojini Nagar area of the city.

“RSS caused division between members of the two communities by spearheading a campaign for dubbing the Sikh dialect Gurmukhi as Hindi, Jaiswal said. This led to the escalating differences between the communities, which ultimately resulted in class conflict sowing the seeds of terrorism in Punjab, he said.
He praised Sant Harchand Singh Longowal for his role in eradicating terrorism from Punjab. Jaiswal also expressed his concern on the increasing terrorist activities in the country and abroad and stressed upon the urgency of frantic efforts to suppress the menace. He also dubbed the scourge of terrorism a grave threat not only for the country but also for the entire world.
Speaking on the occasion, Congress leader Mukesh Shukla held the arms race among several countries in the 20th century responsible for terrorism. He said ideological differences among nations also promoted it.
Later, Jaiswal gave away various awards of the foundation to several eminent people present on the occasion.
