Jakhar to honour Dr Dwivedi

GOVERNOR DR Balram Jakhar would present the Biennial SOFT (I) Award-2005 to Dr S N Dwivedi, eminent fisheries scientist, administrator and educationist, for his valuable contribution towards ocean research, aquaculture, fisheries education and development of fisheries in India.

GOVERNOR DR Balram Jakhar would present the Biennial SOFT (I) Award-2005 to Dr S N Dwivedi, eminent fisheries scientist, administrator and educationist, for his valuable contribution towards ocean research, aquaculture, fisheries education and development of fisheries in India.

The award ceremony would be held here at Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering on March 6. The award carries a medallion, a citation and a cash reward of Rs 10,000.

According to a release, Dr Dwivedi took his D Sc degree from Paris University, Sorbonne, before starting his career under Prof B Schaffer, the then science advisor to the US President.

He has held several distinguished positions such as National Professor — Natural Sciences, Laos; Director, Central Institute of Fisheries Education and Fishery Survey of India; Additional Secretary, Department of Ocean Development; Director General, Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology.

He is a Fellow of National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Indian Fisheries Association and Indian Biological Association and has received various awards and distinctions for his contributions.
