Students will soon be able to have an exciting and amusing foray into the glorious history of India’s freedom struggle in the national Capital.

Jamia Milia Islamia University is setting up a high-tech museum that will let people to have a peep into the freedom struggle through audio-visual medium using latest technology.

The foundation stone for the museum — ‘The Independence Experience’ — was laid down by Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh recently. The museum, likely to be functional by 2012, will showcase the historical movement that mobilised millions of Indians to break away the shackles of centuries-old British Raj, varsity spokesperson Rakshanda Jalil said. The museum will depict the freedom struggle, starting from the Battle of Plassey in 1757, which is considered a pivotal event that led to rule of the British East India Company on the Indian subcontinent.

The First War of Independence in 1857 and the modern phase of the struggle which saw the rise of Mahatma Gandhi as mass leader will be the major attractions at the museum.
