The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday removed from service deputy advocate general, Jammu, Parimoksh Seth, who had petitioned the high court to enforce a beef ban in the state.

The government also ordered disengagement of additional advocate general (AAG), Jammu, Vishal Sharma.

Sethi told HT that the law department, headed by law minister Basharat Bukhari, had been pressing him to withdraw the PIL in the high court.
"But I refused. I had only appealed the court to implement the law of the state. If seeking implementation of the law is a crime, then yes, I have committed a crime," Sethi said.

Sethi had filed the PIL in July 2014, before he took charge as the state's deputy advocate general.
