"Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, SD Singh Jamwal has been transferred and replaced by SSP Manohar Singh," state Home Ministry sources said.

Manohar Singh is considered a hard task master as he rose to prominence during the anti-militancy operations with the Special Operation Group in Kashmir valley.

This is the third transfer of Jammu police chief during the last nearly two months.

The government had transferred Parminder Singh from the post of SSP Jammu and replaced him with IPS officer Alok Kumar in July.

Alok too was later transferred and replaced by Jamwal.
