Deputy inspector general of Police Shakeel Ahmad Beigh said the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) had cleared landslides on a 100-km stretch between Batote and Banihal.

He said stranded trucks carrying essential supplies were first allowed to proceed to Srinagar followed by about 50 vehicles with passengers.

"No traffic was allowed from Srinagar to Jammu on Sunday," he said.

A BRO official said if the sunny weather persists, "then we will restore two-way traffic".
