TAKING EXCEPTION to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan taking credit for Madhya Pradesh being declared as the fastest-growing State at ‘India Today’ conclave, leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Jamuna Devi on Saturday said that achievements taken into account to work out growth rate of Madhya Pradesh also included the works done in the 10 years of Congress rule in the State.

Jamuna Devi further said that Chouhan has not yet completed one year in office and he was trying to create an impression as if all the achievements listed in the ‘India Today’ survey were his own.

If Madhya Pradesh has received any distinction in the field of good governance and law and order, India Today conclave seems to have omitted the Ujjain incident and gross immaturity of the State Government to handle the situation, she said.

She further said that national crime records bureau has put Madhya Pradesh on top in terms of crimes against Dalits and children. Madhya Pradesh seems to have become a victim of misrule and mismanagement under the BJP regime, she said.

She said that report on fiscal managements presented by the Finance Minister of the BJP Government had itself admitted that industrial growth rate during 1993 to 2003 was higher than the national average. As against national average of 5.9, industrial growth rate in MP was 7.9 per cent during the period, she said.

Thus, the BJP Government in MP has borrowed Rs 528 crore each month during its regime, she added. She further said that condition of roads in the State was pathetic and current rains has left big potholes on all the major roads, washing away all the credit the BJP Government has been seeking to take for improving road network in Madhya Pradesh.
