LEADER OF Opposition in the State Assembly Jamuna Devi met Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday to demand withdrawal of cases against Bhil tribals of Nahargarh in Guna district and immediate arrest of four persons, who allegedly raped a Bhil woman of the village.
She also demanded a compensation of Rs five lakh to the victim and registration of a case under the prevention of atrocity on SC/ST act.
Jamuna Devi apprised the Chief Minister the background of the incident and the resentment among the Bhils over the inaction of police.
She said that the attack by over 4,000 Bhils on Konyakala village, where a police officer and a tribal were killed during the clash should serve as an eye opener for the State Government.
She further said that there was an atmosphere of panic in village Nahargarh and the tribals have fled to nearby hillocks fearing reprisal from the police.
If the State Government failed to dispense justice to the rape victim, the situation could again turn explosive, she warned.
She further demanded registration of case for the killing of a tribal in police firing at Konyakala village and compensation to kin of the deceased.
Jamuna Devi said that administration should be alert and not allow the situation to turn into a caste conflict.
