THE CONSTITUENTS of Jan Morcha will organise a nationwide protest on June 13 against the recent hike in prices of diesel and petrol. Besides, they will also oppose the ‘anti-people policies’ of the Uttar Pradesh government.
Talking to mediapersons, the leaders accused the Union government of misleading the people and said that on the pretext of rise in prices of crude oil in the international market, it had increased the price of petroleum products.
The leaders were of the view that by increasing the prices of petrol and diesel, government had invited hike in prices of all consumer goods.
They suggested that the government could have avoided the hike by curtailing the existing customs and excise duty on crude oil. However, they supported the government’s proposal to states to cut down sale tax on diesel and petrol.
The leaders also criticised the State government, accusing it of having failed on all fronts.
Arvind Raj Swaroop of the All India Trade Union Congress alleged that corruption had crossed all limits in the State, but the present government was unable to check this problem. Swaroop added that the common man was left to face all evils.
Ramjeet Singh Yadav of the Samajwadi Janata Party said that the State government had failed to check increase in crime. President of Rashtriya Samajwadi Party Chaudhari Zia-ul-Haq said that farmers of the State had not been given any support by the present State government and recent increase in petrol and diesel prices was likely to put more burden on the peasant community, neglected for a long time.

{{/usCountry}}Panther Dhani Rao Baudh of the Dalit Panthers Party said that the State government had not done anything for the revival of LML factory. Baudh also blamed the State government for false criminal cases against activists of other political parties.
Meanwhile, district Samajwadi Party leaders held a meeting at their district office to chalk out a plan for their proposed bandh call in the district on June 13 against petro price hike.
