FORMER PRIME Minister and national president of Janata Dal (S), HD Deve Gowda said today that his party would not join Jan Morcha and would only support the existing political front against Congress and BJP.
Deve Gowda and Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had a closed-door meeting in the VVIP guesthouse. Though leaders of both the political parties termed it as a courtesy call, coming out of the meeting Deve Gowda told mediapersons that Jan Morcha was not going to make any impact on the political scenario in the State.
Hitting out at RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav and Lok Janshakti Party president Ramvilas Paswan, Gowda said both leaders had become active in Uttar Pradesh only to weaken the secular parties. Earlier too, Congress used them as pawn to weaken the secular front in Bihar, he alleged.
Both Congress and BJP are anti-people political parties, he said, adding that be it the NDA or UPA government, prices of essential commodities soared under both regimes. Large number of farmers committed suicide during NDA rule, he rued.
Later, addressing party workers, Gowda clarified why his son Kumara Swami joined hands with BJP to form government in Karnataka. Congress was trying to finish JD (S) by driving his party MLAs into Congress. To save JD (S), an agreement was reached with the BJP to form alternate government. Now, JD (S) was working hard to work for development of Karnataka and to save the interest of the farmers, he said.

{{/usCountry}}“I do not need certificate from anyone to prove my secular credentials. My son joining hands with BJP was mere coincidence. Karnataka government has taken several measures for the welfare of the minority community”, he said.
“UPA government has failed to fulfill the aspirations of the farmers and labour class. Whereas Karnataka government has already launched loan scheme for the farmers,” said Gowda.
