Escalating their protests, Jat activists have decided to burn emblems representing the Congress every day beginning Friday, till March 28, the date of the threatened siege of Delhi.
Jat activists have been pressing for reservations in central government jobs since March 5.
Announcing the decision, All India Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) president Yashpal Malik said, “Now onwards, the villagers have been asked to burn effigies of the Congress as it is not ready to comply with our judicious demands.”
As part of their strategy, the inmates of village Pasaunda, situated on the Delhi-Ghaziabad border, gathered outside the village on Wednesday, and burnt effigies amidst sloganeering.
“We have several ways to continue out protests. No one can stop us from fighting for our rights,” said Malik.
Malik, accompanied by AIJASS general secretary, Satpal Choudhary, was scheduled to meet Haryana chief minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda for a dialogue on the issue on Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court directed the state government on Wednesday to impose a ban on blockade of railway tracks and roads by the Jat community.
Taking serious note of disruption and damages to public properties, the court directed state officers to take stern action against agitators.
