Jawan commits suicide after killing wife, kids

In a gruesome incident, a Assam Rifles jawan allegedly killed his wife and two children before hanging himself to death at their Chanakyapuri residence, police sources said.

Sree Kumar Nair, the Assam Rifles havaldar who was on deputation with the Intelligence Bureau, allegedly killed his one-and-a-half year daughter Archa and 10-year-old son Aromal by drowning them in a bucket at their IB Colony residence on Saturday night, police sources said.

Nair, who worked as a Junior Intelligence Officer with the IB, then slit his 34-year old wife Bindu's wrists and hanged himself to a ceiling fan, they said adding that the bodies were found on Sunday afternoon.

Nair, who hailed from Nedumangad in Thiruvananthapuram district, was apparently upset that his wife was looking for a job.

Copies of curriculum vitae of Bindu, a postgraduate in History, were also found from their residence.

Nair's family has been informed and the bodies have been kept in the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
