Faced with attempts to create confusion and an online war of words on some fake Facebook accounts being run in the name of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, the JD (U) on Friday warned users of such accounts, saying it would initiate legal action as per the provisions of cyber laws in India.
Party leader Sanjay Jha, who runs Kumar's blog and Facebook accounts, said that the official page of the chief minister was at www.facebook.com/NitishKumarJDU.
"In the interest of public information, people should note that chief minister's Facebook id is just one and some vested interests might want to attribute political motives by selectively citing from one of these fake accounts," he said.
"We have recently launched this Facebook page, since we consider this as a vital tool to connect with the youth and crores of mobile and internet users accessing various social media platforms on their cell phones and computers in the state and outside," Jha said.
He said: "Bihar is making rapid strides and it is critical, that we connect seamlessly with people and inform them about the various developments in the state under the stewardship of Nitish Kumar."
"I appeal to people not to run any page on social media using Kumar's name. Anyone wanting to run a fan page should use caution and restraint and regularly monitor their pages for profanity," he said.
