The one-under 70 placed the Indian in tied 30th place. The leader was Soushi Tajima, who shot six-under 65.

Tajima, who was just one under after 12 holes, went on a birdie spree with five birdies on the last six holes. He needed a mere eight putts for his second nine as he was in blistering form.

Three players - Sushi Ishigaki, Yutaka Horinouchi and Paul Sheehan - shared the second place at five-under 66.

SK Ho, flying in straight from Hoylake after finishing as the best Asian Tour player in 11 th place at last week's British Open, was tied fifth at four-under.

Jeev opened with a bogey, but made up with a birdie on fourth and then again dropped a shot on fifth. Steeling himself he got that shot back with a birdie on sixth. On the back nine, he had birdies on 10th and 18th and in between bogeyed the 13th.
