Serbia's Jankovic, the women's tour sensation this year with three titles, neeeded just 64 minutes to brush aside Bartoli and set up a quarter-final meeting with Czech teenager Nicole Vaidisova.

World number 21 Bartoli, who had stunned former finalist Elena Dementieva of Russia in the previous round, was hampered by lower back pain for which she received treatment after the first round and was never in contention.

Bartoli's exit means there will be no French player in either draw in the quarter-finals for the first time since 1999.
