Jet Airways to induct Airbus A330

The maiden commercial flight of this A330-200 aircraft will be on June 13 and will thereafter operate three times every week.

India's largest private airlines operator Jet Airways on Friday announced the induction of the 226-seater Airbus A330-200 aircraft into its fleet.

The first of its kind to be operated in India, the A330 has joined one of the world's youngest aircraft fleet, taking the airline's fleet size to 55.

The maiden commercial flight of this A330-200 aircraft will be on June 13 and will thereafter operate three times every week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from Delhi to London Heathrow.

On the other four days of the week, this route will be served by the A340-300E aircraft.

"Powered by two Rolls Royce Trent 772B engines, the A330 aircraft can carry 226 passengers with a maximum take-off weight of 233 tonnes. It is also equipped with the Less Paper Cockpit (LPC) making the company the first operator in India to have approval to use the LPC concept," a Jet Airways spokesperson said in Mumbai.

"Configured with 30 Premier Class seats and 196 Economy Class seats, the interior of the aircraft is designed to give passengers a feel of spaciousness. The Premier Class flat bed seats of the A330 aircraft are pitched at 82 inches, giving the passenger uncompromised comfort and luxury," he said.

The induction of the new aircraft on the Delhi-London route will enable Jet Airways to operate a daily second flight between Mumbai and London Heathrow from July 10, using the A340-300E aircraft.
