According to contactmusic.com, movie mogul Louis B. Mayer supposedly made Stewart prove he was not gay before offering him a film deal by sending him off to prostitutes. These claims are made by author Marc Elliot in the book Jimmy Stewart - A Biography.

Elliot also claims that Stewart was so charged by the sexual experience that it sparked a string of romances with Hollywood's leading ladies.
