The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved a project for development of border areas in Samba district.

The state government has approved annual plan 2009-10 of Rs 4.12 crore for border areas in Samba district under Border Area Development Programme, District Development Commissioner Saurab Bhagat said in a meeting with senior officials at Samba on Friday.

While Rs 2.22 crores has been allocated for rural development, Rs 92 lakh has been approved for Public Works Department. Irrigation and health sector will get Rs 3 lakh each, power Rs 63 lakh, water supply Rs 34.50 lakh and agriculture Rs 4 lakh.
The government has also approved development of two model villages at Swankha and Daboh in the district, he said.
