JMM leader shot dead in Simdega

A JMM leader, Peter Bage, was shot dead and his associate Giridhari wounded when unknown men attacked them on the Bano-Manoharpur road, about 55 km from here, a police officer said on Thursday.

A JMM leader, Peter Bage, was shot dead and his associate Giridhari wounded when unknown men attacked them on the Bano-Manoharpur road, about 55 km from here, a police officer said on Thursday.

Bage and Giridhari were going to their village Borra under Bano block when the gunmen opened fire the duo last night, Superintendent of Police Dev Bihari Sharma told newsmen in Simdega.

Bage died on the spot while Giridhari has been referred to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences with bullet wounds, he said.

Bage was the JMM'S Bano Block President and a member in the party's central committee, according to party sources.

He had also contested the 2005 assembly elections from Torpa constituency and finished third.
