INDORE’S RS 2,475 crore City Development Plan was formally approved by the State-level Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) Steering Committee chaired by Urban Administration Development Minister Jayant Malaiyya at a meeting in Bhopal on Saturday.

CDPs for all four NURM beneficiary cities, Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain and Jabalpur, were presented to the Committee by the respective Municipal Commissioners at the meeting. While Plans submitted by Indore and Bhopal were approved in toto by the Minister CDPs for Ujjain and Jabalpur were cleared after minor changes.
The Plans will now be forwarded to the National Steering Group co-chaired by the Union Minister for Urban Development and
Union Minister of State for Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation for approval.
Indore Municipal Commissioner P Naarhari also submitted detailed project reports (DPRs) for the Rs 325 crore sewerage master plan and the Rs 35 crore Yeshwant Sagar rehabilitation project to the Committee during the meeting.
DPRs for the Rs 165 crore infrastructure development project and the Rs 40 crore garden beautification programme, two other projects for which the Corporation is seeking Mission funds, will be submitted at a later date, according to Narhari.
JNNURM is a Rs 50,000 crore urban regeneration programme under which 50 per cent of funds for developmental projects are provided by the Centre with the concerned local body and State government chipping in 30 and 20 per cent respectively.
