Job market grows despite slowdown

The ongoing global crisis has not had much impact on the employment scenario in India and the country has been able to generate a considerable number of jobs over the last three years, said the Survey.

The ongoing global crisis has not had much impact on the employment scenario in India and the country has been able to generate a considerable number of jobs over the last three years, said the Survey.

Drawing a comparison with other developed nations, the Survey pointed out that while developed nations adopted "ad-hoc measures" to counter job losses, India's employment generation programmes were planned with a long-term outlook.

India added more than 900,000 jobs in the one-year period between September 2010 and 2011. The highest jobs were offered by the IT/BPO sector (8.0 lakh).
