Salman Khurshid, who became the State Congress president on November 19, 2004, had been awaiting the high command’s nod for revamping the UPCC.
This gives Khurshid a free hand to lead the State Congress in the Vidhan Sabha polls.

As per the list, there will be 22 vice-presidents and 32 general secretaries in the UPCC. In addition, 101 secretaries and 101 executive members have also been appointed. Besides, the list mentions the names of 49 special invitees and permanent invitees. All former UPCC presidents, CLP leaders, 8 sector incharges, sitting MPs, MLAs, AICC office-bearers and chairpersons of frontal organisations have also been appointed as permanent members.

Khusrhid expressed his gratitude to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and others for clearing the list of office-bearers.

Khurshid flays Mulayam govt

UTTAR PRADESH Congress Committee (UPCC) president Salman Khurshid today termed the completion of three years of the Mulayam Singh Yadav government as unfortunate and said people of the state wanted an end to the “black era’.
While talking to mediapersons he flayed the government for saying that the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government was meting out step-motherly treatment to Uttar Pradesh.

Khurshid also released a list of Centre-sponsored schemes and funds allocated to UP under these schemes. The only achievement of the Mulayam government was the flourishing kidnapping industry, he added.
