Myanmar's junta on Saturday detained two more pro-democracy activists, just days after three former student leaders were taken into custody, a democracy activist said.
Min Zeyya, 45, who was allegedly taken from his home around midday on Saturday, was an associate of Min Ko Naing, Ko Ko Gyi and Htay Kywe, the three activists detained by the authorities early Wednesday.
They were taken ahead of a ceremony for the 18th anniversary of democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy (NLD) party.
The activist said that authorities also detained Aye Myint, an NLD member in his early 50s previously sentenced to seven years in prison for reporting government labour abuses to the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
He had been released from prison in July under pressure from the ILO.
"The authorities took Min Zeyya from his house about 30 minutes ago," the activist said on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals from the military.
"We also have the information that lawyer Aye Myint was taken by the authorities about one and a half hours ago."
A spokesperson for the NLD was unable to confirm the detention of the two men, but said it was looking into it.
Min Ko Naing, Ko Ko Gyi and Htay Kywe, all in their 40s, led a bloody student uprising in August 1988 to demand an end to the military dictatorship.

No reason has been given by Myanmar's military government for the activists' detention.
