Bharatiya Janta Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Thursday kept up his tirade against the Congress and its vice-president Rahul Gandhi, saying the Congress thrives on the British legacy of ‘divide and rule’.
Addressing rallies at Sikar, Ajmer, Kuchera in Nagaur and Bhilwara, Modi attacked Congress’s claim of being pro-poor and said making laws was not enough to alleviate poverty and illiteracy from the country and the government had failed in its constitutional duties.
Retorting to Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s barb on opposition in the state, the Gujarat chief minister said, “We were searching with a microscope where the Rajasthan government was”.
Modi countered Sonia’s statement at a rally in Kota last week that the “BJP is a party of poisonous people”. “It is the Congress that thrives on poison of power” Modi lambasted at Ajmer rally.
Quoting Rahul Gandhi’s statement during Congress’s Chintan Shivir in Jaipur, Modi said, “In Jaipur, Congress’ shahzada had said power is poisonous…but who has remained in power for more than 60 years?” Modi asked as the crowd loudly replied, “Congress.”
Taking a dig at Ashok Gehlot-led government, Modi said more than 40 riots took place during last five years of the Congress rule in the state.

{{/usCountry}}However, the minority community members distanced themselves from the rally and were not seen at rally venue both at Ajmer and Nagaur.
Modi took a hit at Central government for its Rs. 26 demarcation line between haves and have not’s. “You can’t have two cups of tea or can’t buy 300 grams of onions but the economist Prime Minister says you are not poor if you earn Rs. 26 a day” Modi said a cheering crowd at Nagaur.
