Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, who has been guarded in his response to the tribunal's award of 270 tmc ft to the state, is meeting leaders of all parties in the evening.

The situation in Bangalore and the sensitive districts of Mandya, Mysore and Chamarajnagar was normal since Monday afternoon when the much anticipated award came out.

Barring stray protests in Mandya district, police said the situation was normal. It was business as usual in Bangalore with no signs of disruption in normal life in the morning.

A committee to 'safeguard' the interests of farmers in Mandya district, the epicentre of Cauvery agitations, is meeting later in the day to chalk out its course of action.

Schools and colleges declared a holiday on Tuesday as a precautionary step. Some Kannada organisations have called for a bandh on February eight to protest the tribunal's award.

Policemen are keeping a close watch on the situation in Bangalore as also in Mysore, Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts.

Karnataka has threatened to go to court against while political parties in the state reacted sharply calling the verdict a 'raw deal' to their state.
