THE PLACE Lahartara-based pond, where Sant Kabir was found as a baby, echoed in the saint poet’s couplets in Varanasi on Saturday.

The occasion was the concluding day of the three-day Prakatya (emergence) Mahotsav celebration. This place of incarnation has been developed as Kabir Prakatya sthal. Aharya Uditmaninam Das started the development work of this place in 1970.
A large number of followers of Kabir from different parts of the country had assembled here for the last three days. Kabir’s Shabad, Sakhi, Ramani and Nirgun were being rendered by different groups of devotees. A fair-like scene was evident here on the mutt premises.One could witness the followers of Kabir engaged in discussing his teachings and rendering Nirgun songs of Kabir to pay their obeisance to the great saint.
Several makeshift stalls of religious books, cassettes of Kabir-vani and other items were set up on the premises of the mutt.
The devotees have great religious faith in the historical pond where Kabir was found as a baby during the medieval period. The devotees used to take the pious water from this pond as ‘prasad’.
Thousands of people who belong to the Kabir sect including rural women and kids from different states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat descended on the mutt to mark the three-day celebrations of Kabir Prakatya Mahotsav.

{{/usCountry}}A follower of Kabir, Kisim Das, a resident of Saipur district in Bihar, said he worshipped great saint Kabir in the form of god and it was a matter of pride for city residents that Kabir led the Bhakti movement during the medieval period.
He added couplets of Kabir had great relevance in today’s world.
