Cocking a snooze at the cops, about half-a-dozen dacoits barged into the house of Parvez Alam, (35), after scaling the boundary wall. Parvez, his mother Aneesa, a relative Bilal (65) and three nieces Alaviya (15), Sanavata (6) and Sana (12) were all asleep. The dacoits, some wearing kachha baniyan, first targeted Parvez. After hitting him him with rods and sticks, they attacked the two elderly women. They then managed to locate Rs 25,000 and collected all the jewellery and some other costly items. They even took away the earrings worn by Alaviya.

Meanwhile, neighbours reached after the nieces raised an alarm. The cops came two hours later. The injured were admitted to the SRN Hospital. Sources said cops at the Colonelganj police station were initially reluctant to lodge an FIR but later gave in after they were directed by SP (City) RPS Yadav.

Police said the dacoits went away after crossing over the boundary wall.

Investigations revealed fingerprints. Later, two empty boxes were recovered on the riverbank, belonging to the same household.
