Aiming to bring a slice of wine-making experience to the city, the Kala Ghoda Wine Festival will feature a grape-stomping event during the two-day gala starting today.

“This is an add-on attraction for the fest. Since everyone can’t visit vineyards, we decided to bring this activity to our fest,” says Kavit Sutaria, co-founder, Hiraco CCS Hospitality Services Pvt. Ltd., (the organisers of the festival).
Wine expert Omkar Phadke will deliver talks on how to taste, serve and store the drinks and differentiate varieties. Mixologist Nupur Joshi will teach attendees how to concoct wine-based cocktails or ‘winetails’.
Sutaria also informs that they’ve received impressive response from foreign shores this year. “We have a stall dedicated to the French company Wine Stores, which will be offering wines from different regions of the country. Also, Tabuni Gvino wines from Georgia is participating in the festival,” he says.
Sutaria attributes the growing wine culture in the country to well-travelled global citizens. “In India, there has been a drastic change in the drinking habits of people, wherein a lot more people are now opting for wines as against hard drinks,” he says.
