Prof Harshe was speaking at a ceremony organised by Punjabi Welfare and Cultural Society (PWCSA) at Punjabi Bhawan on Saturday, to felicitate meritorious girl students with Kalpana Chawla Memorial Award.

Prof Harshe lauded the efforts of the Society for organising such programme.
BL Chawla, father of the late Kalpana Chawla and special guest on the occasion, praised the efforts of the society for organising the ceremony in memory of his daughter.

President of the society Girdhar Gopal Gulathi and general secretary Prof KK Bhutani were among those who also addressed the gathering.

The awards were given to the meritorious girl students of the district who have topped in their class X board examinations in 2006 and decided to pursue science at the Intermediate.

Besides, four other girl students of the city who passed Intermediate from the UP board and secured the highest marks in biology, mathematics, physics and commerce were also awarded on the occasion.
