Former chief minister and patron of Jan Kranti Party (JKP) Kalyan Singh on Sunday did one more flip-flop. Having once led the Ayodhya Movement while heading the BJP government in UP, Singh today said the construction of the Ram Temple was not a political issue and suggested the same be left to the saints and sadhus to resolve.
"The Ram Temple issue has nothing to do with politics and the BJP is only befooling people by promising them a grand temple at Ayodhya,” he said at a press meet-cum workers conference where he was asked if he would support the BJP on the issue of Ram Temple and Hindutva.
Curiously, however, Hindutva and construction of the Ram Temple formed the cornerstone of the foundation of his new political outfit’s ideology he spelt out to the workers.
"Hindutva, nationalism, democracy, social justice, commitment to construction of the Ram Temple at Ayodhya, and integrated development together make the foundation of the party,” he said.
In what appeared a desperate bid to reestablish himself and establish his son in the state’s politics, the former chief minister, tried to show a world of make-believe to farmers, youth and backwards and exhorted party to reach out to people in every village and city to brief them about the party’s ideology and programme.
Singh asked workers to work hard hinting that the time to come belonged to them. “The field is wide open and you can jump as high as you want to. Our party will play a decisive role in the Assembly polls in 2012,” he said and also gave reasons trying to convince them.

{{/usCountry}}“The BJP is finished, the SP is dying with its Muslim vote bank shifting to the Congress, the BSP is visible only as long as it is in power and the Congress swill never get majority though the party is gaining ground. So unlike earlier, when we launched a new party, the political climate is very favourable to us this time,” he explained.
Singh said the history wore witness to the fact that whosoever betrayed him was finished and you can see the fate of the BJP and the SP. He appreciated Amar Singh for having started cutting the SP’s roots. He alleged the state never had as corrupt a government as the BSP and said people were fed up with it and would teach it a befitting lesson in 2012 when polls results, he predicted, would be stunning.
