Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh on Tuesday said the BJP was the party of cowards and called the Congress a communal party. He termed Mulayam Singh Yadav as betrayer and the BSP the party of criminals and mafia.
Addressing his Jan Kranti Party’s (JKP) first national convention here, Kalyan Singh, however, sought to remind people of how the ‘Ram Raj’ used to prevail during his tenures as chief minister in Uttar Pradesh and urged them to bring the JKP to power to have good governance again. He said his party would contest on all seats in the assembly polls and urged workers to start preparations, spending more time in villages.
Targeting all parties one by one, Singh alleged that the BJP was the party of cowards. He cited the Kandhar incident and the Kargil war to corroborate his charge, saying the then BJP’s government’s response to both the incidents was cowardly.
He also condemned the BJP for foregoing its core ideology for the sake of power and demanded it to tender an apology to the people for reneging on the promises like construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya, implementing of the Uniform Civil Code. He reiterated he would never go back to the BJP.
Coming down heavily on Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for his recent statement that he regretted having befriended those responsible for the demolition of the Babri mosque, Kalyan Singh said Muslims were angry with him (Mulayam) not because of him bust for his policy of nepotism at the cost of senior Muslim leaders. He said Yadav had insulted crores of Hindus by seeking an apology from Muslims. “In fact, he should seek an apology from Hindus for ordering firing on Ram Bhaktas,’ stressed the torchbearer of the Ram temple movement. He foretold that Mulayam would never come to power again as people, he added, had realised his deceptive nature.

{{/usCountry}}Singh alleged that the Congress was a communal party since its inception and said its plans to implement the Sachhar Committee and the Rang Nath Mishra Committee reports were the latest examples of its being communal.
Coming to the Mayawati government, he said the government was fully controlled by criminals and corrupt with law and order having gone to pieces. He said on the one hand Mayawati talked of wiping out mafia, on the other she had said that all he sitting MLAs would get tickets again in the Assembly polls. “This is contradictory because a larger number of MLAs in her party are criminals,” he alleged.
He said corruption was at its peak in the state and people did not have even basis facilities like water, electricity and roads. “All the money was being spent on statutes and parks,” he said. He said the state government was equally responsible for the price-rise.
Earlier, addressing the well-attended gathering of workers, JKP national president and Kalyan’s son, Rajvir Singh ‘Raju’, spelt out priorities and ideology of the party.
