A successful Supreme Court lawyer, Kapil Sibal contested the Lok Sabha elections from Chandni Chowk constituency in Delhi.
He was pitted against popular television actress Smriti Irani. Sibal, a familiar face on television, is also a sitting Rajya Sabha MP and a Congress spokesman. He declared his assets at Rs 16.45 crore.

He is likely to be the Law Minister in Manmohan Singh's cabinet.
