Karnataka government on Thursday decided to install CCTV cameras to maintain surveillance in courts as a measure to scale up security against the backdrop of Wednesday's bomb blasts outside the Delhi high court.
A high level meeting chaired by home minister R Ashoka, with top officials of the home department reviewed the security issues and discussed the measures to be adopted. Talking to reporters, Ashoka said as a first step CCTV cameras would be installed at the high court and later in lower courts.
Ashoka, who visited the high court and reviewed the security arrangements along with Chief Justice J S Khehar and minister for law and parliamentary affairs S Suresh Kumar, said it has been decided to ban parking of vehicles in the vicinity of the high court.
Only judges and court staff would be permitted to enter through the main gate, advocates and litigants will have to pass through the rear gate, he said.
He said the 80 member command force raised by the state for deployment during emergencies would undertake march around high court, Vidhana Soudha and its annexe Vikas Soudha, which houses the secretariat shortly to instill confidence among people.

Meanwhile, chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda said police have been asked to step up security at all sensitive locations.
