Veteran Congress leader and former Kerala chief minister K Karunakaran, hospitalised here for fever, was today put on a ventilator after his condition became "slightly worrisome".

"The condition of the 93-year-old leader was slightly worrisome and he has been given ventilator support since this afternoon," a doctor at the Aananthapuri Hospital said.

"Karunakaran had been diagnosed with chest and urinary infection," hospital sources said.
He was admitted to the hospital on Saturday with fever and uneasiness following a variation in his temperature.
