"He is likely to be let off in the evening. There is no evidence to prove his linkages with the terror outfit," a police official said on Wednesday.

Delhi Police were expected to file a closure report as they were unable to file a charge sheet against him and also because Dar's three-month judicial custody ends January 24.

Dar was arrested in September by the Bangladesh Rapid Action Force for possession of forged travel documents and was arrested by the Special Cell for reported terror links in New Delhi after deportation.

However, an expose by CNN-IBN television channel showed that police had picked up the wrong man, since he was a known face in print advertisements of leading brands and a star in Dhaka's advertising circuit.

With a suspect in the New Delhi blasts of 2005 also going by the same name it was a case of mistaken identity.

During his imprisonment, Dar's father Gazi Ghulam Nabi Dar ran a campaign for the release of his son and also enlisted the support of several Kashmiri politicians.
