One of the most prominent name for translations in India, Katha in its decade-and-a-half of existence has established itself as one of the most exciting publishing houses.

Katha has consistently sought to bring stories from the differnet languages and dialects of India to wider audiences. It has honed the fine art of telling the short story - be it in the epics, the mythologies, the folktales or in the more recent writings.

Started in 1988 by Geeta Dharmarajan, who has been its driving force since inception, Katha is a nonprofit organization working in the areas of story, storytelling and story in culturelinking and education. Katha also works to spread the joy of reading, knowing, and living amongst adults and children, the common reader and the neo-literate. Katha has striven to establish a code of excellence in all that it does, to enhance the quality of life in every project it has attempted.
