The KDA move comes in wake of the orders of Secretary (Housing) KL Meena.

It is pertinent to mention that Meena has shot off a letter to the KDA directing the authorities to nail the guilty who were involved in the land use scam. About 10 schools had come up on the said residential lands in the city without any change in land use and approval of map in connivance with KDA officials.

The KDA has shortlisted names of 14 engineers allegedly involved in the scam.

The list would now be forwarded to the State Government for further action.

Out of these, two are still posted at KDA while rest of them have been transferred to other places.

The 14 names short listed includes Assistant Engineers NS Tomar, JP Singh and Vindhyachal Singh and Junior Engineers RP Gupta, RN Singh, NU Khan, AK Verma, DN Mishra, MA Khan, Ajay Pandey, Ramesh Chand Srivastava, Ashok Sharma, Zahoor Alam and MP Srivastava.

All the 14 engineers have been accused of being hand-in-glove with the owners of the school and ensured a safe passage for the construction of 10 schools without change in their land use from residential to commercial situated at Bithoor and Kalyanpur.

The matter first came to light during the tenure of the then Kanpur Development Authority VC Anita Bhatnagar Jain at KDA Board’s meeting when applications related to change of land use of two schools out of the then 10 blacklisted were forwarded to her.

The matter also came to the notice of the State Government but KDA officials thwarted all attempts for the initiation of any action.

But the letter of Secretary (Housing) KL Meena has proved to be a spoilsport for those KDA officials now.

A senior KDA official pointed out that now there was no option left before the KDA except for disclosing the names of 14 engineers involved in the scam.

“Till date the matter was deliberately pushed under the carpet but now it will not be possible to shelve the matter any more for authorities concerned,” added the official.
