The mystery of British teen Scarlett Keeling’s death deepened on Tuesday after television reports quoted one of the autopsy doctors of saying that investigation officer Nerlon Albuquerque told him to that the police knew it was murder but were intending to cover up the death as a case of drowning.
“The person who got the body for post-mortem is a man named Lakshya Amondkar. I spoke to him. After that he informed Albuquerque. Something transpired between them,” the doctor told the channel.
Meanwhile, Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat said on Tuesday that Keeling’s mother was guilty of neglecting her daughter and should be questioned by the police. The police contacted the family’s lawyer, Vikram Varma, and told him that Fiona MacKeown — mother of the 15-year-old girl — should report to the Porvorim police station on Wednesday morning.
Kamat also ruled out the family’s request for a CBI probe saying Goa police would solve the case within two days. He said the episode will not affect tourism in Goa. The Keeling family meanwhile is in shock that MacKeown will be questioned. “I am very worried and nervous that the police want to question me,” MacKeown told the Hindustan Times.

{{/usCountry}}The police also attempted to test Keeling’s bones to determine her age despite being in possession of her British passport. The test is usually for unidentified bodies to determine their age. The viscera samples have been sent to a forensic lab in Mumbai.
