This year’s hot trends feature natural elegance with striking statements. Art and wall decor are major factors this year and their successful use sets the tone and standard for the rest of the room.

Natural inspiration: The natural look of wood, metal and other elements found in nature is a trend this year. Look for gentle tones in green, earthy browns, rustic silvers, coppers and other nature-inspired colours that will add warmth to your decor.

Contrasting colours: Look for colours that complement each other in a distinct way. Be careful about not going overboard with colours. A delicate balance provides a striking appearance. A soft white or beige combined with a bold colour for accent works really well.

Texture: The ability to feel what you see is an important trend for decor this year. Mixing textures enhances the visual impact and adds a sense of completeness. Think contrasting natural colours and textures in a way that adds luxury in a very dramatic way. Mixing traditional, ornate frames with contemporary and modern art trends is also an excellent way to decorate.

Make a statement: Look for wall art that makes one statement powerfully instead of many statements quietly. Use oversized art in a way that makes an impact. One focal point in a room can make a lasting impression but too many can take away from the look.
