Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is likely to gain against both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls, an opinion poll conducted by ABP News and Nielsen has said.

The opinion poll said that the AAP was likely to bag as many as 18 seats during the elections.

The BJP, on the other hand, is likely to emerge as the single largest party, surpassing the Congress in the Assembly polls with around 28 seats and a vote share of around 34%.

The poll predicted that the Congress was likely to win 22 seats in the 70-member Assembly.

The AAP was likely to gain a vote share of about 15% from the Congress and the BJP, the survey said, with other parties and independent candidates likely to win only two seats in the Delhi polls.

The opinion poll said around 32% of people surveyed wanted Arvind Kejriwal as Delhi’s next chief minister, ahead of Vijay Goel and Sheila Dikshit.

Shiela Dikshit’s ratings as a CM had gone up from 22 per cent in August to 27 per cent in October. BJP’s Delhi chief Goel too was wanted by 27% respondents as their next CM.
