Unlike other candidates who have held road shows, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal will take out a padyatra for his nomination procession in Varanasi on Wednesday.

Kejriwal is pitted against BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Congress’s Ajay Rai and the Samajwadi Party’s Kailash Chaurasia among others for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat.

Senior AAP leaders will also be present on the occasion.

Kejriwal's nomination procession will start from Lahurabeer crossing at around 11am. Party workers from all assembly constituencies of Varanasi will assemble at the crossing.

"Arvind Kejriwal has decided to take out a padyatra from Lahurabeer crossing on Wednesday for nomination process. The yatra will start at around 11am," said senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh.

The AAP will now intensify its campaign in Varanasi till the city votes May 12. Kejriwal will campaign in each of the five assembly segments of the city for two days from Thursday.

This schedule would be apart from the AAP workers’ door-to-door campaigning which was the mainstay of Kejriwal's strategy in defeating three-time Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit.
