KESCo to implement locking system

KESCO IS going to implement the ?locking system? in transformers to check pilferage of power. This system will first be implemented in Electricity House division of the power company.

KESCO IS going to implement the “locking system” in transformers to check pilferage of power. This system will first be implemented in Electricity House division of the power company.

Under this system, a meter will be installed on a transformer. Apart from this small meters will also be installed on all cables supplying power to consumers.

The meter reading of these small transformers will be compared with the reading to meters installed at the residence of consumers. The difference between the two readings will be taken, as pilferage of power and its onus will be laid on consumer.

This project will be completed in three phases. In the first phase, multi-story complexes of the Electricity House division will be covered. A separate meter will be installed on the transformers of these multi-story complex
